Got out and roamed the timber....  finally bloodied my Tip Curtis. 36 flintlock.   Flintlocks and squirrels go together just like peas and carrots!

Way to go, Rodd! Two more weeks until we have to quit. Where are you finding all those fox squirrels? I kill one every now and then in creek bottoms and around field edges. Otherwise, it's all grays.

Glad you got to break in that rifle!

The first squirrel I ever killed with a bow was a fox squirrel. I was hunting behind my house and he ran up on a little hickory sapling and just sat there. The shot was about 15 yards and I thought to myself, "If I miss, I will never see this arrow again." So I took my time, drew back my recurve, and focused on hitting him right in the eye. I ended up hitting him in the head and STILL lost the arrow!

It was definitely worth it!

I'm in the northwest part of the state.  Up until a few years ago, all we had was fox squirrels. Now, the greys are taking over.  I had a couple shots at greys,  but nervous attitude wouldn't allow a shot. Fox squirrels are much more inclined to sit on a limb a watch you....

Keep after them!

Rodd
