New bag I am working on
« on: March 13, 2019, 12:08:48 AM »
I started this bag while I was working on the black one I posted previously.  Its a dyed canvas with dyed buckskin trim lined with a period linen lining.  It measures 12" across the widest spot at the top and is 10' wide by 9" high.  It has a divider and a hanging pouch on the inside for balls/flints/patches.  Its all hand sewn with linen thread.  The strap will be leather (thin cow hide) with a forged buckle worn at the front for a RH shooter.  I have a patch knife and sheath ready to install and am waiting on a horn and pick and brush set for it.

Oh, yea, its all hand sewn with waxed lined thread.......

Hope ya like it...

Bruce,

When you mentioned you were preparing to make a linen bag I thought WT? but they likely had a good bit of linen available where leather might have been a bit more costly "back in the day"...

You DO have some talent---- and patience.... Things I lack in, so I stand in admiration

Thanks Doc.  I am working on the strap today and have had a conversation with my horn guy.  Think we have decided on an F&I period horn.

More to come.

That's a handsome piece of work there.  I'm inspired to try something in those materials.
