1840's Style Dagger
« on: January 30, 2019, 10:40:55 AM »
A friend wanted an old style dagger with a big elk antler handle.  Found this example in "The Knife in Homespun America" by Madison Grant...

I started this dagger last spring.  As I was straightening it out of the quench, I broke the tang.  Welded it back and broke it a second time trying to assembling the knife...

Finally I tack welded the guard to the blade and welded a 3/8's screw to the broken end of the tang...Keeping the blade cool wrapped in a wet towel...
