just took it all apart and will begin prepping the stock for an aqua fortis heat stain under tru-oil.  did a test on some scrap maple.

Rob and I agree that Gaudy isn't What makes a smoke pole pretty, but given that a lot of curly maple was used "in the day" for such, I'd say that is going to be a good looking gun... never shot a single trigger flinter, well ONE, but it was a POS to start with, but brass will tone down with time and if anything, I'd make sure the BBL took on the French Gray ASAP
