.526 balls for 54 cal GPR
« on: May 13, 2018, 04:08:32 PM »
Has anyone tried TOTW .526 lead RB  in a GPR?  I'm looking for some easy loading and decent accuracy.  I'm running .530 Hornady balls now and they are fairly tough to start with .010 patches lubed with Rob's Gato Feo recipe.  I need to start looking for a good hunting load  before it gets too hot and humid...  it's 93 today,  :(   so time is of an essence! !!!!  Lol :D

Thanks,

Rodd

those swagged hornady balls might be larger than .530", i've seen it before with them.  i used a jeff tanner brass .526 mould along with .015" greased patch strips, worked just fine.  i sold that mould (stupid!) when i sold that GPR and now that i've converted a .50 GPR to .54 i ordered another tanner .526 mould last week.  if ya can wait a bit, when it arrives i'll make ya up some .526 balls, along with some .530 balls from a lee mould ... pure lead, of course.

That would be great,  Rob.
I'll gladly pay you for your time and trouble.
