Im surely not anyone to give advice, but I'll share advice given to me!  TOTW has Black English Flints done by someone known to the old timers, or his protege is now doing as that gent was out of it but taught this guy...

They had different sizes...I found what mine liked and ordered out a dozen...

I usually order English from Neolithics.  IIRC they were running $2.00 ea and were ground flat on top and bottom.

I'm a French Amber Flint kinda guy! I shoot a Fusil, so I figured my gun would like the French flints better than the English!  ;D

"tom fuller" black english flints from TOTW.  be SURE to specify flat top, single edge flints.

https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/141/1

this is a "fine" flint - flat topped and with a single cutting edge - notice the cross section is thinner than peaked, double edge flints ...

I got the best so far at Dixons gun makers fair from Tom Fuller himself (he had buckets full to pick from) he said he supply's Dixons also.  Track of t w sent me very nice French flints but the English flints were disappointing over half of the dz were hump back not at all like Robs photo. now I know to ask for FLAT flints totw.
Can wait for the gun makers show in Lewisburg coming up soon!!
