Title: South African Wildebeest

This is one of my best shots ever made with a rifle. The 58 caliber conical bullet went through both shoulders and dropped this huge Wildebeest in its tracks. 100 grains of Swiss powder and a 625 grain conical bullet did the trick. Looking to do a Cape Buffalo in the next trip or two. This is a rifle that I made from scratch about three years ago in the Christian Springs Edward Marshall style.

That is simply spectacular! One of these days I need to see if I can tag along with one of my flinters.

Happy for you, Mike!

Job well done Mike.
That is a fine Beast and Shooter. That .58 gets the job done on most anything you want to bring down.
I build a heavy Hawken with the intend for Alaska but I never took it up there for thaT job.
I took the hollow base plug out of the Lyman Mini mould and made a flatbased projectile for the big critters and this combination works well out to 200 yards if I had to take that long followup.

Bill Bagwell has invited me to make that hunt over there but I never took up his offer. Now it's to late, Bill is gone.
